I had a really hard time getting myself motivated to make the appointment for today, but I'm goin in! Part of it for me is that I HATE needles, and I know if my dermatologist sees any weird spots it means needles. I think I'd rather go another round of the topical chemo than take a shot. I'm a wuss.
My life has been totally busy, my husband has had kidney failure and needs a transplant, I'm teaching full time, taking care of our house, three boys etc. I can think of a million excuses to avoid this appointment today, but the fact is that it's important. Very important. I'd much rather keep up with this stuff than find out it's gotten out of hand and I could die. My youngest is only 4, he needs me around for awhile, especially now with my husband's illness. So... hi ho hi ho it's off to my dermatologist I go. I'll update you all soon of course. Cross your fingers, toes, legs, arms etc for me!!!
Hi Christina,
ReplyDeleteIts been a while since I have seen you blog. I am so sorry you have been through such a hard time. I pray God will heal your husband and yourself and give you the strength to be strong.
I too hate those moments at the dermatologist because they always mean another cut, another biopsy, another freeze and the most dreaded is another wait to find out...
I have all my body crossed! Check out my last appointment on my cancer blog.
Betty
Hi Betty!
DeleteThank you for your words of support and prayers. I'm on round two and finally getting some down time to catch up on my blog. Round two is not so bad for me so far, of course I'm only on Day 6. It was kind of a toss up this time if I should do the blue light treatment that takes many appointments with recoup time after each appointment or the fluorouracil. Since I'm off for the summer, it seemed like fluorouracil now was the way to go. The doctor also said the results are better, which is what I want. I will spend some time checking out your blog. G-d bless you in your own journey with skin cancer. Thanks for posting!
Christina
Hi Christina,
ReplyDeleteFirst I just want to say thank you for sharing your story. I think that's so brave. You and your family are in my thoughts.
I was wondering if you could give me any advice. My dad is on a 6-week topical chemo and is struggling. I was wondering if you have any recommendations that may help to alleviate some of what he's going through.
Thanks so much and I hope you're doing well,
Cassie
Cassie,
DeleteI hope your Dad made it through his treatments more easily, and thank you for the kind words. The nice thing about the treatment is that it gives me a month indoors to do things like catch up on my blog. I'm updating now that I'm in round two. Please share with your father for me, the 2nd round does not seem to be as severe. Much of what I read on the internet said the opposite, so there is hope!!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteHealthline just designed a virtual guide of the effects of chemotherapy on the body. You can see the infographic here: http://www.healthline.com/health/cancer/effects-on-body
This is valuable med-reviewed information that can help a person understand the side effects they are experiencing from their chemo treatment. I thought this would be of interest to your audience, and I’m writing to see if you would include this as a resource on your page: http://tanlinesandchemo.blogspot.com/
If you do not believe this would be a good fit for a resource on your site, even sharing this on your social communities would be a great alternative to help get the word out.
Thanks so much for taking the time to review. Please let me know your thoughts and if I can answer any questions for you.
All the best,

Thanks for sharing. I just started this treatment on my face and googled about it and found this. THANKS!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are all healed up now and hope my blog helped you. I'm now in my 2nd round, and going back and rereading helped me prepare. I had forgotten so much of it. I think that is a good thing.
